Deerfield Township is a 3,136-person Cumberland County township that takes in Rosenhayn, Carmel and Garton, with Route 56 and County Route 552 carrying most of the traffic. Lots here are wide, older and often bordered by field edges, which is where the hazard trees usually are: leaners over a driveway, split roadside maples, and pine at the edge of a woodlot.
Cumberland County lies entirely in New Jersey’s Coastal Plain, and part of the county falls in the Inner Coastal Plain region of fragmented woodlands and relict coastal hardwood forests.
